The LG G3 and G3 Stylus smartphones are finally here in Malaysia

LG Electronics Malaysia informed us yesterday that its flagship G3 smartphone has finally arrived in Malaysia. Not to make the device feel all alone, LG has also released its LG G3 Stylus (guess what it comes with).

“We’ve been witnessing high demands from Malaysia for our smartphones and we are thrilled to make a comeback to Malaysia with our flagship model, the G3 and the latest G3 Stylus which comes with the Note features at an affordable price. G3 has been a global sensation throughout 2014, achieving the Best Mobile phone awards in the prestigious reddot and EISA awards. I am proud to introduce its breathtaking features to our local fans now and I’m sure they will be an instant hit amongst Malaysians,” said Kong Mun Keen, General Manager of Marketing, LG Electronics Malaysia.

The G3 was first announced towards the end of May this year and has been slowly rolling off to many other countries worldwide. LG then began expanding the device’s availability and started adding more Asian countries to the list a month later. It came as a surprise then that LG went all quiet about bringing it over to our shores. After a further 6-month long wait, the device here is finally here and its all good now. LG has brought in the unit with the higher 3 GB RAM / 32 GB memory combo and has announced an attractive price to boot.

The G3’s main selling point lies in its imaging proficiency. Combining optical image stabilisation (OIS+) and a hybrid laser auto focus system, the camera is said to be able to lock-on to a subject in record time. It does this by using the laser to measure the distance between the subject and the camera, even when in low-light conditions. The OIS+ allows the camera to move not only the x and y axes, but also on the z axis as well.

Another major selling point is the Quad HD display that delivers sharp images with its 534 ppi resolution. Even with the 5.5” (Gorilla Glass 3 protected) display, the phone is not that much bigger than most smartphones toting a 5.0” display.

Moving on, the G3 Stylus is LG’s low-powered, very aggressively priced device for the stylus obsessed smartphone crowd. The Rubberdium stylus pen sits neatly inside the smartphone and makes for a great partner when the need, for jotting things down or sketching on the 5.5” display, arises. Users can add notations or drawings onto images or maps, or even write notes using LG’s own QuickMemo+ app.

Both G3 and G3 Stylus come with LG’s Dual Window feature, Smart Keyboard and Knock Code security enhancements.

Pre-booking for both devices started yesterday at participating outlets (listed at the bottom). Since LG has not mentioned anything about the number of units being brought in, we don’t expect Brightstar Distribution (the official distribution-rights holder in Malaysia) to have a short supply. LG will start selling the devices in the Klang Valley first, then proceed to the northern and southern regions, and finally in East Malaysia.

The LG G3 has a retail price of RM 1,699 while the LG G3 Stylus retails for RM 799. They’re both available in Titan Black or Gold colour options and for this holiday season, LG Electronics Malaysia is also giving away a free LG Quick Circle folio case (worth RM 150) to the first 300 and 500 customers who purchase the G3 and G3 Stylus, respectively.
