Last week, the Silent Mode team organised a familiarisation event for members of the media to get to know the Slurp app better by trying it out in person. The event was held at Talent Lounge (which is one of the restaurants that has implemented the Slurp POS system) and the organisers had arranged for the participants to order food through the Slurp app.

The Slurp POS system and its app have gone through a revamp since we last covered it about a month ago, and the changes, especially to the latter, are well worth the update. The POS system’s flexible reports system, Receipts Manager, and Waiter tagging have all been overhauled. It now has Quick shortcuts, Enhanced Waiter app support, and Silent Mode has made the entire system much more stable than before.

Ordering food with the Slurp app was almost magical. Customers will just have to grab a table, scan the QR code on the table, add food or drinks to the cart, and submit the order. Someone from the kitchen or wait staff will then confirm the order, and it will be sent to the table when it’s ready. Those who do not have an internet connected smartphone or tablet will have nothing to worry about as the restaurants can have Slurp terminal equipped wait-persons to help with the orders.

On the app side, the development team has now improved on the already polished user interface to include some frequently used options right on the main page. Users can now scan the QR code immediately without going into a specific restaurant, and the options for dine-in or delivery are clearly marked and separated into their own tabs. Offers from participating restaurants are also shown at the very top of the list to give them a more prominent place and are fixed there even when users scroll down to check out other restaurants. Not only does the Slurp app now support vouchers and emailing of receipts, the app itself has become more reliable too.

Silent Mode has a lot planned for future expansions of the Slurp system. The team is concentrating on building the matrix in Klang Valley at the moment but confirms that expansion to other states will happen naturally. When asked about their APIs, the team replied that it has not planned to open them up at the moment but it will be something that they will look into based on the need. The team did however confirm that Slurp will get mobile payment options from within the app as well loyalty programs in the near future.

Silent Mode believes that its solution is better than what is available in the market as its able to scale from a small shop operating from a single location, to franchise outlets running in multiple locations. The team is also confident that its dine-in or delivery option, along with its built-in billing feature, that’s available from one single app, is better than most others in the market.

The company generates revenue from Slurp POS subscription as well as from the sales of hardware and solutions. The Slurp system is now available at about 35 outlets and counting
