Meizu’s next candidate to take on the low priced, mid-tier segment has arrived in Malaysia. Although the m1 note was first announced back in December last year, it still is very relevant and a very capable device.
One of the more interesting aspects of this phone is the use of an IGZO (that’s Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide, if anyone is interested) based touch panel. The sensitivity of most conventional a-Si (Amorphous Silicon) touch panel systems get clouded by the continuous electrical noise that its thin-film transistors (TFT) create. The transistor behind an IGZO touch screen however creates almost no noise, has less leakage (thereby saves power), and more importantly, improves the sensitivity of the touch screen.
Once again, here are the key specifications for the m1 note:
- 1.7 GHz octa-core (8 x ARM Cortex-A53 processors) MediaTek MT6752 CPU and ARM Mali-T760 MP2 GPU.
- Runs Flyme 4.0 (Based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat).
- 5.5”, 1920 x 1080 (HD 1080), Sharp/AUO IGZO LCD screen with a pixel density of 400.53 ppi. GFF full lamination display with Gorilla Glass 3.
- 2 GB RAM (LPDDR3), 16/32 GB internal memory, but has no microSD card slot.
- Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n dual band with Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0, and micro-USB 2.0.
- Supports GPRS, EDGE, HSPA+ and 4G LTE Cat 4. Two SIM slots (4G/2G, micro-SIM) with dual-standby.
- 13 MP auto-focusing rear camera with Samsung CMOS sensor at 1.127 μm size, dual-tone dual-LED flash, 5-element lens with Blue glass IR filter, and Gorilla Glass 3 lens protection. 5 MP front camera with OmniVision OV5670 PureCel sensor, with Sharp 4-element 69-degree wide-angle lens. Aperture for the rear camera is rated at f/2.2 and the front at f/2.0.
